Duke Ellington School for the Arts
Washington, DC
Client: DC Department of General Services | Architect: CGS
Completion Date: 2019
The Duke Ellington School for the Arts is not only ranked as one of the top public schools in DC, it is one of the premier high schools in the nation with a focus on the arts. The grand Classic Revival building, located on 35th Street in Georgetown was no longer adequately fulfilling the needs of the dynamic arts program, consequently sparking a full renovation and modernization. Working closely with the architect and theater consultant, Polysonics provided designs that respected the historic fabric of the building while creating a center for the arts and world class school.
Polysonics design services included LEED Gold classroom acoustics, theater performance systems and rehearsal and practice room acoustics, HVAC and mechanical noise control and isolation, performance audio and video projection systems, classroom teaching systems, video recording and editing studio systems, audio recording and editing studio systems, 5.1 and 7.1 surround systems, building wide IPTV distribution, video/media distribution design, voice and data infrastructure design, VoIP and LAN networks, clock and bell systems, closed circuit TV and door access systems as well as intrusion detection and metal detection/entry systems.
