Constructed in 1938, the Bethesda Theatre is a historic art deco movie house which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, and has recently been converted into a premier off-Broadway performance venue.
Polysonics designs helped to renovate this remarkable facility with the addition of state-of-the-art acoustical techniques and a digital audio performance system. These designs were careful to preserve both the historic structure and interior finishes that were restored to their 1930’s splendor.
The design team for this project won both the AIA – DC Award of Merit for Historic Resources 2008, and the AIA – Northern Virginia Award of Merit for Historic Architecture 2008.
